We now have 84 species of bird recorded as seen on/over the site and adjacent to it. 

• Three are on the Natural England schedule 1 List;

• Five are on the RSPB Red List; and

• Four on the Amber List. 

45 species are thought to nest on the site. 

The bird surveys are carried out by a local well regarded bird watcher Graham Giddens. He is licenced by the British Trust for Ornithology to ring and record birds. He is also employed by Brockenhurst College to lecture on birds and to run field trips.
